About

I’m Sare! It’s short for Sarah. My pronouns are she/her. I am a Yoga Therapist, Teacher, Associate Trainer, and Energy Healer (Sound and Reiki). I educate and empower people who are seeking health and wellness through the exploration of Yoga.

I started regular attendance in Power Yoga and Yin Yoga classes from 2012, when I found out I had Osteoarthritis. Mindfulness and meditation had been introduced to me some years before, but this is when I started to attend up to four times a week because I could feel the benefits. The yoga classes made a difference for me by improving my mobility and reducing potential flare ups.

While living in Canberra, I was put in touch with Heather Agnew at Yoga Trinity and my teaching journey began. By 2017, I had completed the first of many trainings and four months after I graduated, I left my full-time Office Manager position to be a full-time Yoga Teacher. Trainings have included Vinyasa Flow, Core Yoga, Thai Yoga Massage, Accessible Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Reiki, Sound Healing and Yoga Therapy.

After more than seven years of teaching and over 10 years of personal practice, my method of teaching yoga is one of accessibility, exploration and metta. That last word, Metta, is Sanskrit for loving kindness. For example, practicing loving kindness and compassion to ourselves when we’re in our yoga practice can be nurturing for the body, mind and soul.

In Yoga Therapy, my work is centred around persistent and chronic medical conditions. This work is informed by my personal experience with Osteoarthritis (OA), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and more recently Breast Cancer, along with other experiences of close family and friends. It has great importance to me and for the communities I am a part of.

As an Associate Trainer for Yoga Trinity, I find great enjoyment in teaching to the next generation of yoga teachers. In the face to face component with me, we cover things such as functional anatomy, go in-depth with a range of physical postures, and explore the many ways we can make yoga accessible for all.

You will also find me teaching public group classes at a few locations around Canberra (see Group Classes) and I’m usually carrying a collection of instruments for some relaxing sounds when it comes to resting at the end of a class. Although, a full sound bath event is divine and not to be missed when one happens.

When I’m not with a client or teaching a class, I will usually be spending some relaxation time playing games with friends, taking the dogs for a walk or creating some new artworks.

If you’d like to have a chat about what I can do to help you in your yoga journey, send me a message in the Contact page.
